John L. Shrake, Age 83 of Roseville, Minnesota died at St. Therese Nursing Home in New Hope on April 7, 2014, after a very long illness. John is survived by five brothers, Francis, James, Joseph, Daniel, and Mark. A sister Barbara Mary, has died. His parents Leon and Mary, passed away in 1979 and 1964, respectively. After graduating from Saint Mary's College in Winona, MN, John pursued his passion of educating and counseling students at several Catholic High Schools and then counseled students at Metropolitan State College, Minneapolis, MN, before retiring. A wake will take place at the Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 N. Hamline Ave., Roseville Minnesota, 55113, on Friday, April 11, from 4-7PM with Rosary at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 8:30 am Saturday, April 12, at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church (506 Cedar Street, St. Paul, MN). Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona, MN at 2:00 PM Saturday. In Lieu of flowers, donations to offer Masses and/or to help continue John's passion in education with contributions to the Leon and Mary Shrake Endowment for Excellence in Education, Catholic Community Foundation, Court West Suite 500, 2610 W.
