MAN BADLY BURNED IN HOUSE FIRE REMAINS IN CRITICAL CONDITION

PLEASANTON. Doctors say a man injured in a Pleasanton house fire Friday remains in critical condition. Lauren Rice, 68, suffered third-degree burns over 40 percent of his body when his house on the 600 block of Neal Street caught fire about 9:30 p.m. He was taken to Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, where he remains in critical condition. Hospital spokeswoman Alex Hardy said Rice, who has emphysema, is suffering from a severe inhalation injury.
