KRAMER F. W. BIOGRAPHY
BOOK - HISTORY OF WINONA COUNTY, MN., VOL 1 & 2, PUBLISHED IN 1913.

F. W. Kramer, postmaster of the village of Lewiston, was born in Utica township, section two, 12 Jun 1865, son of William F. and Elizabeth (Schartan) Kramer. He was reared on the farm, and early attended the school in district nineteen, in his native township. He also studied in the Winona schools. At the age of fifteen he went to Ortonville, Minn., and worked in the flour mill of Aaron Kaercher for a year. Then he went to Castleton, N.D., and worked for the McCormick Harvester Company five years. Subsequently he returned to his native township, and worked for Dr. C. A. Boyd, in Lewiston, one winter. He was then employed three years at the W. D. McCutcheon elevator, which is now his place of business. After leaving the McCutcheon elevator, he went to Utica village, and operated an elevator there for H. W. Lamberton. When the elevator was sold to the Marfield Elevator Company, he remained with the new concern until the elevator was destroyed by fire. He next operated a leased elevator for the American Malting Company one year. In 1904 he purchased the elevator, but it was destroyed a year later by fire. Then he returned to Lewiston and purchased from W. J. McCutcheon, the elevator which he now owns. He is a good buyer, a keen judge of the markets and absolutely honorable and upright in all his dealings. His recent appointment as postmaster gives him a still wider field for the exercise of his talents. The subject of this sketch is one of the leading men of Lewiston. He has been president of the village for several terms, and is now clerk of the board of education. The family faith is that of the Evangelical Lutheran church. Mr. Kramer was married 12 May 1892, to Amma Stenernagel, born in Utica township, this county, a daughter of Conrad Stenernagel, an early settler. Mr. and Mrs. Kramer have three sons: Conrad W., Arthur H. and Walter W.
