NOTE - The list of children on this census is slightly complicated. Edward was a son born to Jacob's first wife, Abigail Townsend. Clara and Dora were actually step-children to Jacob. They were children from Martha Headrick's first marriage to George Woodward who died on April 5, 1868. Jacob apparently "adopted" the two daughters and for the purposes of the 1880 census enumeration gave them the surname of Baughman even though their birth names were Woodward. I doubt if this was a formal or legal adoption and it is unclear if the two daughters actually used the surname of Baughman or their birth surnname of Woodward. To complicate the surname confusion ever more, the oldest of the two, Clara Woodward, would eventually marry Harding Townshend Baughman who was one of Jacob's sons born from his first wife. So in effect, Clara went from step-daughter to daughter-in-law by marrying her step-brother. The youngest two children listed on this census were natural children born to Jacob and Martha.
