Her surname seems to have been spelled and indexed by researchers in several different incarnations. For example, the 1870 US Census for Clara's family was spelled as Keesey, the 1880 US Census spelled it as Kusey, the 1900 US Census for her father was spelled as Keesy, and the death certificate for her father spelled his name as Keesy. However, what I feel is the most important spelling of all is the way that Clara's brother, John, signed the death certificate for his father: Kessy.
