Bruce did not have a middle name. He also never had a birth certificate per his son James Franklin Reed and needed witnesses to prove his identity. My father tells me he would not sign up for Social Security, insisting he wait until he was 65 years old. He died of a heart attack at home when he was 63. He was a pipe fitter and worked on the Savannah Georgia river power plant visible from Interstate 95 as well as traveling the US and working in Hayward, California. My uncle Hayward is said to have been named for that city.
