NOTE - Amelia's husband, King Lightfoot, was temporarily staying with his son, Elbert and his family, in Garfield County, Oklahoma leaving Amelia back in Missouri with the children. By the 1910 Census, the family was back living together in Craig County, Oklahoma. I'm not sure if King was separated from his wife at the time due to disputes or if he merely went out to Oklahoma in advance of moving his entire family there. (Brian L. Lightfoot)

NOTE - The mother of King Lightfoot, Lydia Jones, was living next door to the family in Missouri for the 1900 Census.

NOTE - Maud Kelly who was listed as a servant would become the wife of Robert Herman Lightfoot within the next year or so.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

Craig County, OK History book, Vol 1, page 461 says: King A. Lightfoot with Millie (Biggs) Lightfoot, his wife and family moved from Carroll County, Missouri to Texas County in southern Missouri at Dykes. Here, King set up a country store. The children were Elbert, Herman, Raymond, Pearl, Opal, Alice and Mae.

In the summer of 1900, the brothers, Elbert, Herman and Ray heard of a wonderful place that was all prairie and there was good money to be made by baling and selling hay. They came to the Kelso community of Craig County, Indian Territory (later Oklahoma) and baled hay all summer. They found the community as wonderful as they had been told and they would be closer to their father, King who had moved to Carterville, MO and established a store, they decided to move to the Kelso community in Craig County, Indian Territory. Later in 1907 King moved to Kelso and set up yet another country store. By this time Oklahoma had achieved statehood.

Eunice Hightower, Email Nov 2013:
"Daddy Lightfoot was the one who brought the family to Oklahoma from Missouri and started a grocery store at Kelso, OK, north of Vinita, hay center of the world. They had an elevator, several big hay barns and a corral to ship cattle, section houses for the section hands (little one room houses) across from the Kelso schoolhouse; a post office and the store and the post office had the first phones in that part of the country. They were on the east side of the road across from the school and west of the railroad tracks. They were between the schoolhouse and the railroad tracks. There was a corner house south of the store at the crossroads, Eunice's Uncle Marion Taylor lived there with his family. When he moved out, the Street family moved in and that's when we had so much fun saying that Kelso was growing so much that we had seven streets now--because the Streets had five kids or seven people."
