bullet  Marriage Notes:

I am fairly certain that the 1880 census enumeration is of the correct John Bryte and his wife, Arminda? It appears that they left Illinois between 1877-1880 and moved to Fremont County, Iowa to join his brother Mathias Bryte and several other brothers who all moved from Illinois to Iowa. However, this John Bright shows his parents as both being born in Ohio whereas John Bryte's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. But the census records of the other Brytes from 1880 indicates that most were confused about their parents' birthplaces. There is another BRIGHT family of pioneers in Fremont County, Iowa who originated from Greene County, Pennsylvania which is the same place that John M. Bryte's father was born. I suspect that these BRIGHT families are another branch of the same tree with some having adopted the Americanized spelling of the surname and whereas others have kept the original spelling as BRYTE. Perhaps John M. Bryte and his entire family started spelling their names as BRIGHT as evidenced by this 1880 census record. In addition, the family members of his brother, Mathias Bryte, were all enumerated in 1880 in Fremont County, Iowa with the surname spelled as BRIGHT.
