She was born Jan. 17, 1906 at Knoxville, a daughter of William L. and Ella Irene (Kennedy) Cowman. She married Laurin J. DeRenzy at Bushnell April 12, 1924. He died Sept. 22, 1966. She attended Brown Business College in Galesburg.
Surviving are five sons, Charles DeRenzy of Pekin, Robert DeRenzy and Gale DeRenzy, both of Canton, Larry DeRenzy of Bushnell and Kenneth DeRenzy of Macomb; five daughters, Verna Smith of Ipava, Shirley Miller of Bushnell, Dorothy Saulter of Salisbury, MO., Peggy Briney of Bluff City and Linda Sue Havens of Marietta; 34 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and several cousins. She was preceded in death by three sons, Howard, Richard and Gerald, one daughter, Margaret Lamm, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are 11:00AM Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with the Rev. Larry Glen in charge. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery.
Family visitation will be 6-8PM today. Memorials may be made in her name.

Opal married Laurin Julius Derenzy, son of Charles William Derenzy and Hanna E. Bryte, on 12 April 1924 in Bushnell, IL. The cause of his death was coronary oclusion die to arteriosclerosis heart disease.
