² After a brief battle with cancer, Don L. Johnson, 64, of Midland, passed away Monday morning, January 10, 2000, at his home with family by his side.

He was born March 19, 1935, in Midland, the son of the late Francis L. and Helen (Gedney) Johnson. He graduated from Midland High School and has been a lifelong resident of Midland. On June 30, 1973, he married the former Barbara Howell at the United Pentecostal Church in Saginaw. From 1975-1980 he owned and operated Johnson Television in Sanford. In June 1988-89, he and his wife Barb owned and operated The Donut Shoppe in Mart Moderne Shopping Plaza. In June of 1990 we went to work for National Telephone Company in Chesaning. Don and Barb are members of the Christian Celebration Center.

Surviving besides his wife, are his brother and sisters, Geraldine (Jim) Sabias of Bay City, Richard (Donna) Johnson of Mesa, Ariz., and Janet Athey of Midland; nephews and nieces, Kevin Johnson, Gary Johnson, both of Columbus, Ohio, Jon Athey of Midland, Cheryl Sabias of Bay City, Susan Athey of Midland, Amy Wortley of Saginaw and Steven Howell and Darrin Howell, both of Saginaw; his aunt, Martha Gedney of Gladwin; and close friends, Joe (Anna) Rozsenich of Mackinaw City and Fred and Lois Wilson of Sebewaing. He was predeceased by his parents; a twin brother, Ronald; and his dog, Muffet, who he loved dearly and who left him on June 9, 1997.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, from the Christian Celebration Center, Pastor Mitzi Nimmo will officiate, with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. in Midland on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
