Freddie L. Kerby, 75, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, in Saint Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Calhoun, a son of the late Montie and Emma E. Slider Kerby. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a cemetery attendant for Stump Funeral Home for several years. He was a Methodist by faith.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Riggs Kerby; four daughters, Sue Stallman of Dorset, Ohio, Linda Criss and Annabelle Kerby, both of Grantsville, and Diana Miller of Creston; one son, Freddie Veon Kerby of Grantsville; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Leon Kerby; one brother, Urshel Kerby; and two children. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Bryner Chapel Church Cemetery near Creston.
