Scottie Dawson, 93, of Parkersburg, formerly of Joker, died Monday, May 9, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

She was born in Calhoun, a daughter of the late Everett and Ella French Hathaway Gainer. She operated the Joker Post Office for several years and was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of Bryner Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Glen Dawson and John E. Dawson, both of Parkersburg; two daughters, Edna L. Mason of Jacksonville, Ill., and Carolyn J. Elza of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Gainer of Annamoriah and Lora Gainer of Ocala, Florida; and one sister, Eleanor Barnes of Grantsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Kelsey Dawson; one sister, Audrey Garretson; and two brothers, Artie Gainer and Vernon Gainer.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Bryner Chapel Cemetery, near Mt. Zion.
