William R. Barnes, 79, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Edgar and Elma Barr Barnes. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School, a U.S. Army veteran, and was retired from A. B. Chance-Emerson Electric Co., Parkersburg.

Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Beckett of Parkersburg; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ralph Barnes of Parkersburg and Clyde Barnes of Vienna.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellodean Criss Barnes; two sisters; and one brother.

Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, with Rev. Larry Dale officiating. Burial was in Evergreen South Cemetery.
