Helen Nadine Whipkey, 76, of Parkersburg died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 7, 1928, at Grantsville, WV, a daughter of the late Charlie Hupp and Leurna (Hathaway) Hupp.

Mrs. Whipkey is a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Vienna; a member of the DAV Chapter 32 of Murphytown; and had formerly been employed by the Wood County Board of Education as a cook for more than 10 years. She had also been employed by the North Parkersburg Baptist Church as a secretary for 10 years. She enjoyed spending time on the river and all types of water activities and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Emil L. "Burrhead" Whipkey Sr.; two sons, Emil L. Whipkey Jr. and wife, Judith, of Mineral Wells and Charles W. "Chuck" Whipkey and wife, Brenda, of Parkersburg; one daughter, Linda L. Woolard and husband, L. Wayne, of Parkersburg; six grandchildren, Lisa Lyons, Michael Woolard, Brandi Whipkey, Edward Whipkey, Jeremy Whipkey and Kenny Whipkey; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, who all died in infancy.

A celebration of life funeral service will be 1 PM Saturday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Jonathan Lands officiating. Entombment will follow in the Three Crosses Mausoleum, Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 PM today at the funeral home.
