He was born in Henrietta, Calhoun, a son of the late John L. and Biddie A. Wright Kerby. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Cabot Corp. He was a member and deacon at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Grantsville.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma Gene Sears Kerby; three daughters, Susan J. Kerby of Vienna, Sarah A. Albaugh and Sandra K. Pitts, both of Grantsville; one son, Samuel L. Kerby of Washington; two sisters, Flara Gherke and Bertha Webster, both of Grantsville; one brother, Robert L. Kerby of Salem; one grandson; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Stump Kerby; two sisters, Almeda Stump and Goldie Ball; and two brothers, Allie Kerby and Simon Kerby.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown.
