Marriage Notes:
The actual marriage location and residences of Edgar Methven and his wife, Hazel Hulett seem to be a little illogical. There is a ship's passenger list showing Edgar moving from Hawaii to San Francisco in 1917. That manifest shows him to be single (un-married).
Researcher Jack Moselle indicates that Edgar and Hazel Hulett were married in Philadelphia in 1918 even though Hazel was from North Dakota. He provides no source citation for the marriage and I am unable to locate any marriage document.
Researchers Tom Methvin and Jack Moselle both indicate that Edgar's first daughter was born in Hawaii almost exactly one year after he was married in Philadelphia. To support this fact, there is a ship's passenger list which shows both Edgar and Hazel travelling from San Francisco to Honolulu on 30 Apr 1919 when Hazel would have been about 5 months pregnant.
Their next two children were both born in California which makes me wonder if Edgar and his wife were actually married in California, moved to Hawaii where their first daughter was born, but then moved back to California where they remained and raised all three of their daughters there. Both Edgar and Hazel died in Glenn County, California in 1968.
Its the marriage in Philadelphia that doesn't make sense to me. Edgar's gravestone does indicate that he was in the US Naval Reserve and fought in WW II. Perhaps his Navy training might explain his marriage in Philadelphia.
