Also known as: Union Cemetery

This cemetery was first called The Union Cemetery of Fayette County, and was begun with over 6 acres of land in early 1867 to be set aside as a burial place for the dead. In 1892, over 9 acres were added to the original grounds. Any burials in this cemetery which are dated prior to 1867 are remains which were relocated from their original burial locations in what was at that time considered to be old and neglected graveyards.

The back western edge of Oak Grove Cemetery is immediately adjacent to Oak Lawn Cemetery. There is no fence to show the boundary. However, the rows of tombstones in Oak Grove Cemetery are parallel to Route 40 and the rows of tombstones in Oak Lawn Cemetery are parallel to McClellandtown Road which runs between the cemeteries and the Uniontown Hospital.

2013--After a difficult decade or so, the cemetery is now run by a new board of directors which were appointed in the later months of 2011.

All of the cemetery plots in Oak Grove Cemetery have been sold. Additional funding is needed for the protection and maintenance of this historic cemetery.
