James Renton ¹

  General Notes:

A few researchers show this child as being born in 1734 but apparently died before 1736. When a second son was born on 27 Jun 1736, the parents supposedly gave the second child the same name of James. Unfortunately no birth records for the second James have yet been found. But there are Christening records dated 27 June 1736 which might support the second James. It seems odd that both children were Christened on the same exact calendar day of the month of June only 2 years apart.

It may be possible that there was only one James Renton, born either in 1734 or 1736. The fact that there is a Christening record dated 17 Mar 1734 highly supports the birth of at least one James Renton in 1734.
