In 1967, Brian Lightfoot married Carol Renton in Rockford, Illinois and at that time it was thought that there was no connection between the Lightfoot and Renton family lines. The 1940 US Census shows that Andrew and Mary Renton were living next door to Louis and Grace Lightfoot in Wayne County, Michigan. Andrew Renton was a 1st cousin to Carol. Louis Lightfoot was a 3rd cousin to Brian. Both of the families from 1940 had only daughters living next to each other so there were no previous marriages between the Rentons and the Lightfoots. How unusual that the family lines happened to be so close to each other over 25 years before Brian and Carol ever met and were married.
