This census record would seem to be for the correct Isaac Newton Van Zant because of the same name, same birth date, and same birth location but the other 1900 US Census from Pennsylvania showed him to be a farmer instead of a letter carrier as a ranch hand. The enumeration from Pennsylvania was conducted on 4 Jun 1900 and the one from California was enumerated just 10 days later on 14 Jun 1900. It is doubtful that Isaac could have traveled from Pennsylvania to California in just 10 days at that time. There is also no reason why he would leave his family and travel to California where he listed himself as single. The 1910 and 1920 US Census show both Isaac and wife still living together in Pennsylvania thus making this 1900 US Census from California very unlikely that it is the correct person but the names and birth dates remain highly coincidental.
