Samuel Nafe, who has been sick for the past two weeks, with kidney and heart trouble, died this morning at 3 o'clock at his home on west Market street.
Comrade Nafe was a Pennsylvanian by birth and came to Indiana, at the close of the Civil war, and purchased a farm west of Germany. There he married Cyrenitia Erensperger in 1868. They became the parents of seven children. Besides his children and his wife, he leaves four brothers, James H., Dr. G. W., Freemont, Michigan; David and Jonathan, of Chicago.
About ten years ago the Nafe family moved to Tennessee, but all did not prove as prosperous as it had appeared and they returned to Fulton county about two years ago.
The deceased enlisted with Company K, 6 U.S. Cavalry when the Civil war began and served until the battle of Gettysburg, when he received a very severe wound from a saber stroke. He then came to Fulton county, and here, up to the time of his removal to Tennessee, was a member of the McClung Post G.A.R. When a young man Mr. Nafe became a member of the Methodist church and remained a firm believer in the faith until his death. Funeral at the residence, Monday at 10 o'clock and burial at Leiters cemetery.
