Mrs. Varina Shuttleworth, 74, was pronounced dead on arrival at a Hinton hospital at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday after having an apparent heart attack in the lobby of the First National Bank of Hinton. Born in Hinton, March 11, 1902, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Beatrice Hill Wilson. She was graduated from Hinton High School in 1920 and West Virginia University in 1924. Mrs. Shuttleworth did post graduate work at WVU and Ohio University, she taught school in Farmington and Parkersburg and retired as a teacher at Hinton High School. She was a member of the Hinton Service Club, Wednesday Club and Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Survivors include one son, Wayne S. Jr. of Denver, CO,; one sister, Mrs. John Faulconer of Hinton; one brother William of Tabago, West Indies, and three grandchildren. Her husband, Wayne S., died in November 1973. Services will be at 11a.m. Friday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton. The body will be cremated. Friends may call from 3-9p.m. Thursday.
