1 Jimmie M. Lightfoot, age 85, of South Bend, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Hospice House of St. Joseph County. Jimmie was born May 13, 1928, in Elkhart, IN, to the late Wilfred and Ada (Bonewitz) Lightfoot.

On May 13, 1956, he married the former Ms. Virginia Raybuck in South Bend. She preceded him in death, passing away September 7, 2002.

Surviving are his daughter, Cynthia (Larry) Hanson of South Bend; three grandchildren, Jolene Hanson, Charlene (Dan) Watson and Rachael Hanson; as well as two great-grandchildren, David Watson and Lillian Hanson. Jimmie is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Berkey of Goshen, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Orbie and Jack Lightfoot.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one hour of calling prior to the 11:00 am funeral service on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at First Brethren Church, 4909 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where he was a lifetime member. Interment for Jimmie and his wife Virginia will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.

Jimmie graduated from Elkhart High School in 1947. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving honorably during the Korean War until his discharge in 1953. He was employed for over 25 years with the Mastic Corporation as a tool & die maker until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, his hobby turned to a full-time job when he opened Jim's Guns & Ammo in South Bend, where he operated his business for over 20 years. He was a 50-year member of Tyrian Lodge #718 in Elkhart, the N.R.A. and the U.A.W. In his spare time, Jimmie was a Boy Scout leader and bowled in leagues for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Cross Bars Ministries, or to Disabled American Veterans.
