Richard Withington came with his father & stepmother to New England,was admitted a freeman 13 May 1640, was elected a member of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Co in 1646, was deacon of the church in Dorchester in 1668, and was elected several times as a selectman. He was always active & prominent in public affairs.
