Nettie seldom gave a consistent age on her census records therefore her exact year of birth is disputable. On the 1900 census, she stated that she was born in September 1872. Her death certificate also states 7 Sep 1872 and her son, Walter, was the informant. However, her gravestone indicates 1871 which would seem to correlate with at least the 1920 and 1930 census records.
