• His obituary was published in The Frederick News on 18 September 1946 in Frederick, MD. 2 Stricken with a heart attack while hunting Tuesday on the farm of Elmer Shorb, near Taneytown, William Harry "Stiffy" Abrecht, life-long resident of Frederick and for many years the caretaker at the State Armory here, was found dead in a small woods. The Carroll County Medical Examiner attributed death to coronary occlusions. He was 59 years of age. When he failed to return to the home of his son, William B. Abrecht, near Taneytown, late Tuesday afternoon, a search was begun and his body located. The Medical Examiner said he apparently died shortly before noon. Mr. Abrecht was spending the day at the home of his son to enjoy one of his favorite sports---squirrel hunting. He was fond of both fishing and hunting. He was a son of the late George F. and Mary E. Esterly Abrecht and was a member of All Saints Episcopal church. He was also a member of Frederick Lodge, F. O. Eagles, No. 1067. Surviving are his son and a daughter, Mrs. John G. Huffman, Woodsborog; the following brothers and sisters, Misses Gertrude and Kate Abrecht, Mrs. Earl Gilbert, Ernest, Lewis and Charles Abrecht, all of this city; Frank Abrecht, Baltimore, and Earl Abrecht, Washington. Four grandchildren also survive. The body is at the funeral home, 106 East Church street, where friends may call after 10 o'clock Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held there Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral directors.
