bullet  General Notes:

The middle initial of M is discerned from the marriage application for her son, Carl, dated 30 Oct 1943 in which he states his mother's maiden name was "Dora M. Carter".

In addition, her oldest son, Walter, named his first daughter Dora Mary Lightfoot which might have been to honor his mother.

bullet  Death Notes:

There seems to be no authoritative source citation for the death date and location but rather a case of somebody's Internet file or discussion indicated that data.

The community of Van Wyck was originally in Boise County in 1913. Four years later, Valley County was formed out of Boise and Idaho counties in 1917. The large reservoir which formed Lake Cascade has flooded those valley lands and the old community of Van Wyck is now under water.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

The marriage date of August 1899 was given by Patti Peters. No source citations yet given and no event location.
---------------------------------------

John and Dora were in Alma, Socorro County, New Mexico Territory in 1910. According to the census, John was a farmer at the time, however, there was news of gold discoveries in the Long Valley area of Idaho. It is believed that John and his family may have relocated to that area where he probably participated in some of the many mining operations at the time.

Unfortunately, his wife, Dora, died supposedly in the community of Van Wyck in Boise County where she was buried. With the building of water reservoirs in Valley County, Idaho, the creation of Lake Cascade flooded many areas of the old mining areas including Van Wyck which now lies totally underwater. There is no information about the re-interment of any of those that were buried in the Van Wyck area or whether any unclaimed grave sites were allowed to be flooded over.
