When family members went to the Wilsontown cemetery to find her husband's grave they could not locate it so Malinda was buried in the La Plata Cemetery next to her son John S. Holmes.

Howe, on 13 February 1853 in Athens County, OH.¹ (William Wallace Holmes was born on 25 December 1829 in Charlestown, MA,^{2 3 7} died on 23 October 1877 in Sherman, TX ⁸ and was buried after 23 October 1877 in Wilson, MO ⁸.)
