All five of their first children died within a 20 day period in September 1736 due to an epidemic of "throat distemper" (diphteria). Two additional children were then born, John and Hannah Blaisdell, who survived the epidemic. The husband, Elijah Blaisdell, died about 2 years later in Feb 1738. The wife, Mary Holmes, was remarried to Shubael Walker, about 17 years later in 1754.
