1 Frank J. Skufca Jr., 87, passed away on Oct. 17, 2007, at Son Heaven Assisted Living in Helena.

Frank was born in East Helena on June 26, 1920, to Frank J. and Mary (Cvar) Skufca. He graduated from Helena High School in 1938, and went to work for the First National Bank of Helena until he joined the Army in December 1942. During World War II, he was a captain in the Quartermaster Corp., serving as a truck officer in India and Burma, until his honorable discharge from active duty in March 1946, into the Army Reserves.

On July 10, 1943, in San Francisco, he and Lottie Ellen Harris, whom he had met in Helena before the war, were married. They enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage until Lottie's death in February 2002. After the war, Frank and Lottie returned to Helena, where Frank returned to work at the First National Bank. In 1962, he went to work for the State of Montana as a bank examiner until his retirement in July of 1982. Even after his retirement, he continued to work in the banking business and was employed part time for several years at First Security Bank of Helena.

Frank is survived by his children, Karla (Albert) Jeremiah of Kailua, Hawaii, John (Carol) Skufca of Helena and Laura (John) Linjanen of Helena. He is also survived by his sister, Eleanor (Raymond) Hiltner of East Helena; and sister-in-law, Marie Harris of Shepherd. In addition, there are nine grandchildren, Keoni, Kristine, Edward, Janelle and Jason Jeremiah of Kailua, Naomi (Jason) Torick of Helena, Zane Skufca of Las Vegas and Merle (Janelle) Linjanen and Alison (Josh) Morrow of Helena; eight great-grandchildren, Michael Ranieri, Landon Morrow and Ryan, Zachary, Liam, Makenzie, Kassidy and Aiden Frank Linjanen, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lottie; his parents; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A memorial Mass is scheduled at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Community. Cremation has taken place. Military graveside honors will follow at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison with Lewis and Clark Veterans Council officiating. Memorials may be sent in Frank's name to that of donor's choice. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Hagler-Anderson Funeral Home.
