Theron Balthasar Dodd was born on April 5, 1889 at Halls Branch in Crawford County WI to Louis and Regula (Oppriecht) Dodd. Theron passed away on April 17, 1980 in Prairie du Chien, WI following a long illness.

He married Candis Jane Mary Wing, daughter of George and Jessie (Woods) Wing in Lynxville, WI in 1913. Together they had 4 children: 1) Everett Virgil, 2) Murry Howard, 3) LaVonne Donald and 4) Douglas Fairbanks.

Theron worked for a time in La Crosse, WI for Electric Auto Lite and the La Crosse Rubber Mills. He moved to Prairie du Chien in 1922.

Theron was a painter decorator and an artist of renown within the area. His fame in crafts was his specialty in hand whittled decorated boxes and the intricately carved gun stocks.
