According to the 1920 US Census in Valley County, Montana, the only unmarried children of James' were Enoch, Carl, Grace, Eunice, and Bernadine. At the same time, married son Guy and his family moved to Spokane, Washington. The last two daughters (Eunice and Bernadine) were subsequently married in Yakima County, Washington which makes it sound as if James and wife moved there to be with the daughters and perhaps sons. I don't know if the two sons (Enoch and Carl) also moved there and were subsequently married there or not. It may be possible that James and Ethel stayed behind in Montana and if Ethel died, James may have then spent the last years of his life living with a son or daughter in Yakima. When I can locate 1930 US Census records for the area, I should know for sure. (Brian L. Lightfoot) --------------------------------------
