• His obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 23 May 1904 in Rochester, IN.

5 After an illness of nearly two months with cancer of the stomach Francis Marion Ernsperger died Sunday morning at the family residence northwest of town, aged 67 years and 5 months.

Deceased was born in Ohio and came to Fulton county with the Ernsperger family in 1858. He was the third eldest of a family of ten children, and when a young man taught school. Then he married Ida A. Wiley, and they took up farm life as their vocation and enjoyed prosperity and a pleasant home. The wife and three children, Della, Belle and Fred survive.

Mr. Ernsperger's public services consisted of two years volunteer activity in the war of the rebellion, five years as assessor of Rochester township, and five years as township trustee. He was active in good roads movement and in Farmers Institute work, and always stood high as a progressive, liberal minded citizen. To know him was to like him. He was always jovial and hospitable, and while a staunch democrat, was frequently elected in the township where the political majority was largely against him. At home, in town, in public meeting, and in friendship's circles he will be missed.

The funeral will be conducted at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Mrs. Cora Richmond, of Chicago officiating.
