bullet  General Notes:

As with her sister, Catherine, many researchers are incorrectly showing the wrong person as this daughter. They show that Cordelia married John S. Cochran which is not correct. There was a Cordelia Ernsberger, daughter of John Ernsberger, from the same general area, and she was the one that married John Cochran.

When the mother of Cordelia Ernsperger, Julia Ann Ensminger, died in 1896, her obituary stated: "Several sons and daughters were born to them of whom are F. M. [Francis Marion] Ernsperger, B. F. Ernsperger, Mrs. [Catherine] Chas. Jackson, Mrs. [Maria] Samuel Keely, Mrs. [Melissa] A. J. Davidson, Mrs. [Cordelia] Dr. Nafe, Mrs. Bates, and Mrs. [Caroline] Aaron Beery."

Notice that it gives the surname of Nafe. In addition, several of the obituaries for her siblings give her name Cordelia as a surviving sister, "Mrs. Cordelia Nafe". None of the obituaries mention the name of Cochran. Her married name appeared as Nafe as early as 1896 in her mother's obituary and as late as 1926 in her sister Maria's obituary so it is very doubtful that she could have been married to John Cochran before 1896 as a possible first husband.

And finally, there is a Michigan Death Certificate issued on 02 Mar 1932 in Muskegon, Muskegon County, Michigan for Cordelia Nafe. That certificate shows her mother's name to be Julia Ensminger.

It appears that Cordelia and her younger sister, Cyrentia, each married a Nafe brother. Cyrenitia married Samuel while Cordelia married George.
