A private family memorial will be held in October.
Noema was born July 25, 1933, in Kenosha, Wis., to Coy and Emma Arnsbarger. She was the youngest of four siblings. Her three older brothers are William of Burlingame, Calif.; Robert of Mountain Ranch; and Gerald of San Rafael, now deceased.
Prior to World War II, her family moved to Los Angeles, then to San Francisco, where she graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, George Ayers.
George's career with Sears Roebuck moved the couple to Linda Mar, Daly City, San Rafael, Grass Valley, Napa and finally Ridgecrest, where she made her home for 45 years.
Noema started her college career while living in Grass Valley, then finished up in Ridgecrest, graduating from Northridge College. After graduation, her dream was to become an English teacher, but at the time there were only math positions available at Burroughs High School. It turned out that she loved teaching math, and she soon became the advisor for the Mathletes. The Mathletes went on to win many competitions under her guidance. You could not go anywhere in Ridgecrest without someone coming up to her and saying, "Hi, Mrs. Ayers, you were my favorite teacher." She had a 21-year career as a math teacher at BHS before retiring in 1994.
She and George traveled the world, taking many cruises. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a cruise to Mexico with their children. When they weren't traveling, you could find them playing bridge with many close friends.
Although she knew nothing about computers, upon retiring she sat down and taught herself what she needed to know and then wrote a book, which she published.
She lived the last two years of her life in El Dorado Hills, Calif., near her oldest daughter, Dian, and her family.
Noema was preceded in death by her husband George, parents Coy and Emma Arnsbarger and brother Gerald.
She is survived by her children Dian and husband Gene Tabb of El Dorado Hills; Donna and husband Gene Williamson of Ridgecrest; Chris and wife Linda Ayers of Aberdeen, Scotland; and Cindy and husband Gerry of Boulder, CO. Other survivors are grandchildren Gene Tabb III and wife Lisa, Noema Randolph and husband Mark, Rachel Doucette and husband Bryan, Brian Barker and wife Suzanne, Clint Williamson, Chris Ayers Jr., Sarah Ayers, Nicole Agnes, Kristin Agnes and Eric Agnes; and great-grandchildren, Austin Tabb, Howie Tabb, Meagan Randolph, Ryan Randolph, Audrey Doucette, Michael Barker and Corbin Barker. She was also very lucky to have a loyal close friend in her life, Vivian Wright.
