George was born in Pennsylvania and moved to NC in early manhood. There the name was Anglicized from Weckesser to Wacaster or Wacaser. His first wife was probably Mae Paige and their children were Frank, Mary and George, Jr. Next he married Margaret Reinheart. She died giving birth to their only child, John, in 1818. He married Rebecca Rudicil in 1819. They had 11 children: Jacob, Mary Ann, Wm Franklin, Dicy, Susannah, Robert, Nancy, Alexander and Anderson born in Lincolnton, NC.

In 1837 the family moved to Spring Place where they joined George, Jr. Two more children were born, Wm Henry and David Baxter. George had his last child when he was 72. He cut himself farming and died of blood poisoning at 76. While in Spring Place, the family rented the Vann House from the Bank of Georgia. This was Chief Joseph Vann's house before the Cherokee removal.

John, as well as Rebecca and her children, moved to Illinois by 1850. George, Jr., a friend of Col. Bishop, became the first sheriff and ran a tavern in Spring Place. He eventually moved back to NC.
