bullet  General Notes:

The following was written by Etta McCoy. The ring mentioned was made by Andrew Arnspiger from gold he found after going to California by Ox team during the gold rush. Andrew Arnspiger was the Great Uncle of Etta McCoy. He gave the ring to Barbara Houser (grandmother of Etta Lorey McCoy). Sue McCoy wore this ring when she married Richard Bode in 1966.

"This ring was made from gold found in California in the gold rush days. Mr. Andrew Arnspiger and his Father and his brother-in-law, Mr. Houser went by wagon train using oxen as their power to pull the wagons. Mr. Howser was the Grandfather of Mrs. Etta McCoy, the former Etta Lorey. Mr. Houser and his father-in-law both died after reaching California in the 49 gold rush. This left Mrs. Houser a widow with four little girls. Their names were, Mary Catherine, the mother of Etta Lorey, Sarah, Emily Jane, who married James Atteberry, the aunt of Etta McCoy, Margaret, Aunt of Etta McCoy. Andrew Arnspiger, great uncle of Etta McCoy had this ring made from gold he got out west and gave it to his sister, Mrs. Barbara Houser, who was grandmother to Etta McCoy. Etta McCoy gave it to her husband's niece, Mrs. Susie Tickles to wear and she passed it on to her three sisters to wear. After having for a good many years, they passed it back to Etta McCoy. Her grandmother, Mrs. Houser, gave it to her on her fourteenth birthday. Etta McCoy let her oldest daughter, Alta wear it for several years she passed it on to her youngest sister, Adah, to wear. Etta McCoy wants it passed on to her granddaughter (Carol Sue McCoy) daughter of Carol T. McCoy and Clementine McCoy, hoping that she will cherish and appreciate it enough to take good care of it and pass it on to her son or daughter.

Signed this 21st day of November 1952 by Etta McCoy.
