bullet  General Notes:

There would seem to be some major data conflicts with this person as entered on Find A Grave and the entries on Family Search which contain source citations from Prussia. The Prussian records indicate that she died at around 2 years of age but the Find A Grave records indicate she was married with several children and is buried in Janesville, Wisconsin.

The Family Search birth citation provides "18 May 1838 at Neu Langsow, Lebus, Brandenburg, Preußen" which is different than the 1842 date as shown on her gravestone.

"Deutschland, Preußen, Brandenburg und Posen, Kirchenbuchduplikate, 1700-1875", FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J4DZ-VZF : Wed Jan 15 10:06:49 UTC 2025), Entry for Dorothea Louise Possin and Martin Possin, 18 May 1838.

The Family Search death source citation provides for a death date of "5 Jan 1840 at Neu Langsow, Lebus, Brandenburg, Preußen" instead of the death date of 1931 as shown on her gravestone.

"Deutschland, Preußen, Brandenburg und Posen, Kirchenbuchduplikate, 1700-1875", FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J4DZ-2JK : Wed Oct 08 19:37:31 UTC 2025), Entry for Dorothea Louise Possin and Martin Possin, 5 Jan 1840.

Assuming that the church records from Germany are accurate and reference the same Martin Possin as the father, then there are only 2 distinct reasons to explain these differences for Dorothea.
1. They are two different persons from different families but just happened to have the same or similar names.
2. They are both daughters of Martin Possin and Anna Janicke. The first daughter died young in 1840 and then two years later, another daughter was born and the parents gave her the same name which was a common custom in Prussia and certain Scandinavian countries at the time when a child died young.

I am going to assume reason number 2 is the valid reason which means I need to show two daughters born to the parents, the first surviving less than two years and the second eventually marrying, moving to the United States, having at least 5 children of her own, and was buried in Janesville, Wisconsin.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

For the 1900 US Census, there was another family living nearby with a striking similarity in names:

Sheet 1B, District 192, Dwelling 23, Family 24
Rock Township, Rock County, Wisconsin
farm rented; married 34 years
Fred Buchholz..Head..May 1840..60..GERMANY..Immig 1867..Farmer
Dora Buchholz..Wife..Feb 1842..58..GERMANY..8/4..Immig 1867
Eda Terwillinger..Daughter..Nov 1873..26..WI..married 0 years

The birth dates are slightly different and this family listed their daughter as still living with them but the real Buchholz family had their daughter, Eda, already married by 1900 and living elsewhere with her husband.

I'm not sure of any relationship between the two families. The Buchholz surname was common in the area.
