Charley and his wife, Alice, share one common gravestone which is a light gray granite with a polished vertical front face approximately 3' wide and 18" high. The inscription reads "FOUDRAY - Alice L. 1874 - 1964; Charley H. 1871 - 1940". Mulvane Cemetery: Block 15, Lot 78, Grave 1.

  Marriage Notes:

Charles and Verne Foudray lived for many years in Sumner County (Kansas). He was born 14 Jul 1871 in Fleming, Kentucky to William Elbert and Mary Ann Edens Foudray, and moved to Kansas with them in 1887. Alice Laverne Burnett Foudray was born 23 Oct 1874 in Iowa to Thomas B. and Elizabeth Lightfoot Burnett who moved to Sumner County in 1876. She married Foudray 16 Jan 1896 at the home of her grandparents Daniel and Susannah Lightfoot in Mulvane, Kansas. They were the parents of two daughters, Lois Genevieve born 15 Jul 1896 and Dorothy Helen Mayme born 19 Jan 1907, near Mulvane.

They made their first home on a farm near Mulvane later moving to Butler, Honeywell, and Blackwell, Oklahoma and following such occupations as digging and fixing wells, flour mill operator and restaurant owner. He spent several years with a bridge construction crew of the Santa Fe railroad. In 1924 they sold the restaurant they had been running in Mulvane and returned to the farm southeast of Mulvane. Foudray died 13 Jun 1940. Verne was a small, dark eyed bundle of energy and continued living on the farm for several years tending her garden and chickens. At the time of her death 10 Nov 1964 she was making her home with her daughter Lois Storey in Mulvane.
