• His obituary was published in the Unknown in July 1946 in Colby, KS.

George Presley Ross was born January 17, 1886, near Springfield, Illinois, the son of John and Mary Ross, who preceded him in death. He was one of two children, his sister Helen died at Loveland, CO. April 17, 1918.

George grew to manhood and received his education in and around the place of his birth. He moved to Enid, Okla. in 1910 where he farmed for four years, and was united in marriage with Bessie Williams in 1911.

In 1914 he moved to his farm north of Syracuse, Kansas where three children were born: Esther Ross of Colby; Dorothy Lahs of Saint Louis, and Violet Benjamin of New London, Conn.

Mr. Ross moved to Colby in 1934, where he lived until the time of his death. June 27 he met with a mishap while using a team of horses on the Foster Farms that resulted in serious injuries, the exact reason for the injuries are not known. He was rushed at once to Saint Thomas hospital in Colby where everything possible was done to relieve his suffering, but God willed he should not recover and he passed away July 3, 1946. Mr. Ross was a truly good friend to all who knew him and a good neighbor. His relatives and friends will miss him, but they also know he has gained the rest he deserved.

Funeral services were held from the Schroeder Funeral home July 5 with Rev. C. E. Hatfield officiating. Burial was in Beulah cemetery.
