3 Thomas L. Lightfoot, 44, of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 30, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System La Crosse. He was born on December 15, 1967 in Rochester, MN to Franklin and Helen (Krage) Lightfoot. He grew up in Onalaska and attended Holmen Schools. He attended UW-La Crosse and graduated with Political Science and Public Administration Degrees. He worked at the DMV for the last 18 years.

Tom married Laurie Galstad on June 15, 1991 in La Crosse. They began their married life in Chaseburg and eventually moved to Sparta where they have lived for the past 14 years.

Tom had his HAM radio license and he enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie of Sparta; 4 sons, Jordan, Zach, Trystan, and Alex, all at home; parents, Helen and Frank Lightfoot of Onalaska; sister, Kathy (Erik) Daily of Holmen; brother, Tim (Stacey) Lightfoot of Trempealeau; mother-in-law, Shirley Galstad of Sparta; special friend, Jeff O'Neil of Sparta; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his father-in-law, Gene Galstad.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Ambassador Baptist Church, rural Sparta, with Pastor Clyde Ewers officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of services.

The Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
