Lawrence Ayres Ford, 84, of 1200 Mulberry St. in Tipton died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton following a lingering illness.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ron Stuhr, Gary Stuhr, Dave Stuhr, Scott Stuhr, Jim Allen, Benny Allen, Stacey Allen and Steven Allen. Visitation is noon-2 p.m. Friday at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. A memorial has been established.
Mr. Ford was born on Oct. 14, 1917, in Cedar County, the son of John C. and Lucy Elizabeth Witmer Ford. He married Katherine Lucile Linn on March 25, 1936, in Cedar County. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1978. He attended rural country schools. He worked construction as a roofer for Bill Dense. Survivors include two daughters, Bev Stuhr and Judy Allen, both of Tipton; a son, Larry Ford of Tipton; three sisters, Viola Gritton of Wilton, Ellen Meyers of Maysville and Genevieve Meixner of Atalissa; two brothers, Charlie Ford of Tipton and Jack Ford of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sisters, Violet Pullman, Nellie Schneider and Bertha Proctor; and three brothers, Frank, Daniel and Peter Ford.
