Under his ministry the church recovered from a dismal attendance of 15 and grew to an average attendance of around 60. Because of his declining health they moved to Memphis, Mo., and again he was called upon to preach in area churches. He preached a number of months at the Gorin Baptist Church.

In 1995 he married Lasca Courtney Yerington. They bought a small farm near Memphis, Mo. and raised cattle. In 1999 they discovered that two of Rev. Yerington's arteries were completely blocked so they sold the farm and moved back to Iowa, where they resided near Wever until his death.

The Reverend Yerington and his wife are members of Heritage Baptist Church in Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mildred Edith Witmer, and four brothers; Howard Archie Yerington, Harry Edwin Yerington, Charles Chester Yerington, and Vernon Yerington.
