WILTON, Iowa -- Richard A. "Dick" Morrison, Wilton, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Wilton Retirement Community. The body has been cremated according to wishes. No visitation is planned. Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance Service, the United Methodist Church, Wilton, Iowa City Hospice or the Wilton Retirement Community. Richard A. Morrison was born April 18, 1931, at the Hershey Hospital, Muscatine, the eldest child of George and Gladys (Schafnit) Morrison. He married Mary Ann Smull on April 4, 1970, at the United Methodist Church, Wilton. He served in the Army, from which he was honorably discharged for his service from 1952-54. Dick served on the town council in Atalissa, and was on the Wilton Board of Adjustment and Review. He was a dedicated member of the Atalissa and Wilton Volunteer Fire Departments and saw each through many changes. He served as Chief of the Atalissa VFD and was Assistant Chief of the Wilton VFD. Dick was a member of the Iowa Fireman's association, and a former member of the Iowa Fire Chiefs Association. Over the years, Dick was employed by Francis Carlisle, Waldo M. Elder Lumber Co., Mike Goddard Accounting and Tax Service and the Wilton Municipal Light and Power System, from which he retired. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Wilton. There will be a lunch following the service at the church for a time of food and fellowship. The officiate will be the Rev. Mike Biklen. Dick is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Morrison, Wilton; a daughter, Bobbi (Mrs. Mark) Kraklio, Bartlett, Ill.; two granddaughters, Dara and Keaton Kraklio, Sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Don) Freeman, Waverly, Doris Yerington, Muscatine, Janice (Mrs. Jerry) Schneekloth, Bloomfield and Marilyn (Mrs. Floyd)James, Cedar Falls; many nieces and nephews, and his loyal friend, Kenneth Lincoln, who visited him daily. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys and a brother, George Morrison. .
