General Notes:
There is a marriage certificate for Braxton Howser and Sally Clarke, issued 24 Feb 1842 in Spencer County, Kentucky.
The name of Sally Clarke is suspiciously similar to the then married name of the 3rd wife of Braxton's brother, Solomon. She was Sarah Howser who was first married to Ellis Clarke. Sarah Clarke and her children are shown living with Solomon in the 1850 US Census for Oldham County, Kentucky.
The Sally Clarke who married Braxton appears with him in the 1850 US Census of Spencer County, KY. Her name appears as Sarah Houser.
Both wives of Solomon and Braxton were named Sarah. Both are age 36 on the 1850 US Census. Both had the surname of Clarke when each were married; one was known to be previously married and the other's true maiden name may or may not have been Clarke. The only difference seems to be the wife of Solomon indicated that she was born in Illinois while the wife of Braxton indicated that she was born in Kentucky.
There seems to be no other information about the Sarah Clarke that married Braxton. It is doubtful that she could have been the same person simply because of the 1850 US Census shows the Clarke children living with a Sarah and Solomon Howser. The Sarah Clarke that was living with Braxton had at least 4 children with Braxton and the Clarke children were not living with her. -----------------------------------
