bullet  General Notes:

Isaac Fast was born 19 March 1820 in Richland County, Ohio. He was the fourth child of Christian Fast II and Elizabeth Blosser. Isaac's brothers and sisters were: John Jay, Martin, David, Levina, George, Clemmer, Christian, Ann Elizabeth, and Catherine.

Isaac was only 15 years old when his mother, Elizabeth, died in 1835. She was only 41 years old and had given birth to her tenth child the year before her death. In 1840, when Isaac was 20, his father, Christian, died at the age of 45. It has been an unanswered question as to what happened to the minor children of this couple. It is presumed that extended members of the family took the children in and raised them to adulthood.

By 1850, Isaac was living in Pleasant Hill, Pike, Illinois, where he made a living as a carpenter. He married Narcissa Richardson on 19 October 1850 in Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois. Narcissa was the daughter of Robert Richardson and Catherine Bullen.

Isaac and Narcissa Fast were the parents of four sons and six daughters. Born between the years 1852-1875, they were, in order of their births: Martha, William, Susan, George, Lear, Nora, Elizabeth, Pheme, Martin, and Sarah.

In 1865, Isaac joined the Union army for service in the Civil War. He served in D Company, 7th Illinois Infantry. He was honorably discharged in Lexington, Kentucky and returned home to his family in Pike County.

Isaac became ill with asthma and rheumatism at the age of 69 and drew a pension for his service in the Civil War.

Isaac Fast died 10 August 1895 in Pleasant Hill, Pike County, Illinois. He is buried in the Rowley-Ator Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
