A child sometimes listed as "Samuel" is most likely the same as Daniel. The given name of Samuel comes from the 1850 census record upon which the difficult handwriting for his given name certainly appears to be Samuel but once you know that it should be Daniel, it becomes obvious that it is indeed the name Daniel and not Samuel. Even the dot over the letter "i" in Daniel is obvious. (Brian L. Lightfoot)
