 General Notes:
It is somewhat difficult to know exactly what her given names were. As a 3 year old, the 1870 US Census shows her name as Henrietta which was apparently shortened to Etta in later years. However the name of Mary Etta Elson shows up on the birth certificate for her daughter, Grace. The 1895 Iowa State census shows it as Mary E. Snell. I suspect that her true name was Henrietta Mary Elson and she disliked the name of Henrietta so she preferred to be called Etta or not even liking that, sometimes Mary Etta.

Death Notes:
Henrietta was not listed with the family on the 1900 census while her husband was listed as widowed. Therefore she must have died sometime between 1895 and 1900.
