bullet  General Notes:

There appears to be an equal number of documents that spell the surname with two "G"s, i.e. Springgate. I'm not sure if just the one "G" is more correct than the other.

Arthur apparently was married once before Pauline Arnspinger as evidenced by this 1850 census which shows his wife to be Elizabeth from North Carolina. The three children all appear in the 1860 census after his marriage to Pauline with Emilinee's name changed to Ellen (ages all matching).

bullet  Marriage Notes:

After the death of Arthur in 1880, Paulina and her adult children eventually became separated with most of them moving westward or into the northwest territory of Oregon when gold and silver were discovered there. Paulina herself moved to Kay County, Oklahoma sometime between 1880 and 1900 where her niece Emily Jane Houser and husband James Atteberry had settled with their family. Accompanying Paulina were her older brother, Andrew Jackson Arnspiger, and her son, Rollin. Perhaps some of her other children may have helped her make the move but they moved on and only Rollin remained on the family farm in Oklahoma.

Her son, Andrew, ended up in Linn County, Oregon where he worked as a hostler (stable hand) in the city of Harrisburg. He married a Scottish gal that was born in California and they raised at least 3 children, all born in Oregon. Her son, William, remained back in Illinois where he became a carpenter, married and raised a family there. Her other son, Oscar, apparently was married at one point but he was listed as widowed in the 1900 census where he worked as a barber in a gold and silver miner's hotel in Grant County, Oregon. I have no information about her oldest son, Monroe, or her daughter Rhuhama. (Brian L. Lightfoot)
