  General Notes:

The 1870 and 1880 US Census records are interesting in that her married name has changed from Wooders to Woodward. Was this really the same name just being pronounced and spelled differently or is it possible that Margaret was remarried to a Woodward following the death of her 1st husband, Thomas Wooders, who was killed during the Civil War?

There is some good evidence that she may have remarried because the 1880 US Census shows her surname as Woodward and designated as widowed perhaps for the 2nd time. More significantly is that she now has 2 daughters with the youngest named Molly who was born in 1874 which is about 10 years after Thomas Wooders is thought to have been killed.

The 1890 Special Census of Surviving Widows shows her name only as "Margaret A. " widow of Thomas Wooders. Perhaps if her name had been shown a Margaret A. Woodward, widow of Thomas Wooders, then that might have caused confusion.

Margaret married Thomas J. Wooders on 27 May 1863 in Middletown, Frederick, Maryland, United States. (Thomas J. Wooders was born about 1834 in Delaware, United States and died after 1864.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage date and documents for Thomas and Margaret can be somewhat confusing. There are records of a computer printout that was compiled by the Genealogy Department at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Salt Like City on 2 Aug 1978 indicating all marriages listed alphabetically based on surnames from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Middletown (1743-1885). One page (Image 171 of 464 or page 168) shows Margaret Ebrecht being married on "27 May" to Thomas Wooders but there is no year after that date. Some indexes and researchers have erroneously assumed that the year would be the preceding year from the line above which in this case was 1855. This is a misleading source citation:

Continuing on in that same printout to Image 455 of 464 (page 452), the data there shows Thomas Wooders marrying Margaret Ann Ebrecht on 27 May 1863. This page has the complete and correct date. This would be the correct source citation:
